Caitlyn Jenner changed from Bruce Jenner because Bruce Jenner was a lie and Caitlyn Jenner was the truth.
Okay, now that I have gotten that part out of the way, I can assure you all that I won’t be rehashing of the events that actually led to the writing of this blog post. We have all seen it for our own eyes. Hell, I thought it was Janice Dickenson at first sight. That is, until I realized that it wasn’t. Bruce Jenner had went full blown female and the world was reacting.
Caitlyn Jenner and Bravery
For the most part, there has been praise and reverence for Caitlyn Jenner. “Bravery” is a word that comes up a lot. If the word isn’t “bravery”, then it is “courage”. Courage to face one’s fears along with the condemnation of society is something to consider. Also, it takes courage to do something so drastically different to one’s body in the view of one’s “inner being”. Like it or not, Bruce Jenner becoming Caitlyn Jenner was not as small as people think it is.
Caitlyn Jenner and The ESPY
You see, there is the situation that confuses me with this award. Usually, this award goes to athletes, former athletes, and those related to sports. Nelson Mandela received this award and he was no sports figure. However, he did a lot for sports in his home country AND for the world as a human being. Thus, all the factors that make this award available to previous winners does not convince me that Caitlyn Jenner should be the recipient.
To put things plainly, Caitlyn Jenner is winning this for reasons that have nothing to do with the sports world in itself. Bruce Jenner hasn’t been a worthwhile sports figure for over 30-40 years. In fact, he/she has been nothing but reality show fodder for Kardashians cashing in. And when you look at the other possible nominees for the award (two former cancer patients that carried on to do what they love the most and a military man missing limbs that still finds a way to compete and stay in top form), one should really consider this award going to a man that decides to be their inner woman.
I’m sorry, but this award going to Caitlyn Jenner seems more opportunistic than anything.
Caitlyn Jenner Won Anyway
This is not a hate blog against transgender. This is a blog that questions the point of awarding a person for doing something that has no bigger association outside of themselves and others like them. Caitlyn Jenner’s choices shows courage in the public eye. In sports, however, all of this doesn’t have the same type of meaning. In the end, Caitlyn Jenner is winning for the sake of publicity. And to me, that puts shade on those a tad bit more deserving.
‘Nuff Said and ‘Nuff Respect!!!
