When women took offense to Rick Ross’s lyric about spiking drinks with drugs, some thought they were overreacting. To be honest, it IS a rap lyric. However, for many people it is a reality that is all too real and scary as all hell. Many of us don’t think that we are even close to being in a situation where it could happen. Well, that is until it happens to us. Then our lives are thrown off track.

This happened to a fellow Twitter A-Alike that I tend to converse with from time to time. She was going on and on about it. I wasn’t totally coherent as to what she was talking about until she practically just summarized her experience. At that moment, my mind was thrown into a haze of disorientation. I was between confusion, disbelief, and pure paranoia.

Let her tell it, it was no walk in the park. In reality, it should leave anybody scared shitless for at least a few weeks (if not for life).

Only problem is that her story isn’t something quite as solitary and uncommon. Both males and females have stories of this happening. Oh, and to be reminded: this isn’t a racial thing. Being drugged is quite the equal opportunity sick-headed occurrence.

Here is how the story goes with Miss Lenubienne:

She was hanging out on a Saturday night (what grown people do from time to time). She went to a couple of places. She even had something to eat. Her and her wonderful friends stopped at a beer garden. During her celebratory time in the middle of Bed Stuy, he ordered a drink (a Jameson to be exact). She tweeted around 1:19 in the morning. At around 1:40, she was being dragged out of the place.

No drink gets you there in the matter of minutes like that. We have to remember that it takes one a while to get “drunk” to begin with. To get “black out drunk” that fast is remotely impossible. So, there was some funny business going on with her drink. In short, she was lucky to be around some wonderful people that looked out for her best interests.

The bigger issue is that other people are not so lucky. We have to understand that 60 percent of rape situations are NOT reported. So, while there are cases of situations being known, so many other cases are not fully understood. Adding the fact that 97% of rapists never serve a day in jail makes things even more scary. This only shows you that we daily live in a dangerously detrimental world.

Then there are the people that have jokes and sideline commentary.

Some things just aren’t worth the comments or response from someone like me so I chose to say nothing. People have no clue as to how heinous this type of situation truly is.

Let us get deeper into how crazy this situation is. When she went to the hospital looking disheveled (with a cup of urine for safe measure), the nurse KNEW exactly where to take her. There was no “sign in sheets”. There was no “May I help you?” queries. There was a glance, a realization, and pure action.

What was worse is that these type of situation were the NORM during the weekends. Not an outside isolated incident. This was a common incidence. And that makes this even petrifying. It is scary that ANYONE at ANY TIME can easily be drugged and taken advantage of without even knowing what is going on.

So, what can you do to avoid situations like this? The safest thing could only be to stay in or just not drink at all. Not trying to be funny, but if you go out then you may need to take a drink tester that tests for this type of stuff. To even suggest these type of things is unnerving in its own right. Still, it is best that I make sure all those I know and deal with (even if I never met them) stay safe and enjoy life in lieu of predatory behavior.

It is sad when you can’t go out and drink safely. It is even sadder when people think this madness is acceptable. I need everyone to speak out against this travesty!!!

‘Nuff Said and ‘Nuff Respect!!!
