Lil Wayne has been professing his “best rapper alive” mantra for years. Beyond that, however, is the business acumen of an intelligent young man. Still, he has made questionable decisions both musically (every album after Carter III) to personally (his codeine/promethazine habit). At the end of the day, Lil Wayne is a pretty good rapper that is human like everyone else.
Sometimes, however, I question whether the man is still on the drugs he swore off.
Yesterday, Lil Wayne appeared on Undisputed with Skip Bayless. On the show, Skip recalls noticing how Lil Wayne was at a concert with so many white people in the audience. From that point, he asks Weezy F. Baby what message was taken away from the Westchester, NY performance. Amazingly, the rapper notes that “I thought that was clearly a message that there was no such thing as racism.” And it was that point that I realized Lil Wayne has lost his damn mind.
That is right, all the Lil Wayne fans out there: your favorite rapper is delusional as hell. Also, he is full of shit. Let me show you all how I KNOW he is a liar.
Lil Wayne Avoids the Obvious
Being a black man in America, I would be remiss to not acknowledge the existence of certain aspects of its culture. One of those aspects is racism. How is it that a man raised in Louisiana in one of the roughest areas surrounded by cop harassment, the influx of systematic oppression, and capitalistic poverty can even come up with the concept of racism not existing? After all the protests, disrespect for black bodies, and even further disrespect for President Obama, Lil Wayne still manages to leak out ideals that are typically relished by an ignorant ruling class and its sheepish constituents? I’m not sure if I should be astonished or disappointed.
Another problem is Lil Wayne’s reasoning is trash can dumpster juice. Pointing out how “millennials don’t think racism is cool” comes off uninformed and silly as hell. I guess he knows every millennial out in the world. Or has he not realized that many young people are racist and don’t even know it? Racism is a systematic cultural of putting one powerful race above another; racism is not a fad like hipster music and Truk Fit clothing.
And miss me with the “white cop saved my life” routine. That only proves that there are some good people out there that happens to be white.
Lil Wayne Didn’t Say That Years Ago
What really makes me realize that Lil Wayne is trying to serve shit sandwiches to the public is that he acknowledged racism years ago. Back in 2012, he was shut out of having court side seats at a Spurs/Thunder game. His reasoning? Lil Wayne felt it all happened because he was black:
“That’s not the point, though,” he told The Associated Press in an interview Friday night. “It’s the players stepping up, but of course, the players aren’t white. I don’t want to be sitting there on behalf of you and I’m sitting next to a (person) that’s like ‘I don’t want this (guy) sitting next to me.’ (Forget) you … I’m in Forbes,” he said, laughing.
I guess it takes a good four years to change one’s tune? I guess all of the white support and white money flowing through his bank account makes him believe that he never experienced an ounce of racism that he actually tried to acknowledge years ago? I’m not buying it.
Lil Wayne is Full of It
Call it what you want, people. I call it “full of shit”. And that is exactly what Lil Wayne is full of: shit. It is one thing to never experience racism. That would make sense when it comes to not recognizing it. It is another to actually know how racism may feel just to deny its existence because white people stuff money in your pockets. In the end, Lil Wayne’s lapse in judgment seems like a delusional move to keep his pockets fattened by the white people that could be racist but wouldn’t know because they are just as delusional as he is.
